Abstract This article explores issues related to chronic illness from a Christian theological perspective. It examines what chronic illness is and is like, and names some theologies destructive to people with chronic illnesses. It concludes with potential elements for constructive theologies and christologies including incarnation, survival, accepting meaninglessness, truth telling and having voice, justice, solidarity and diversity, and liturgies for life.
