Abstract

{ABSTRACT} This article presents a theological and spiritual approach toward healing some of the spiritual wounds that may accompany disability. These include low self-esteem, loss of faith, and loss of a sense of purpose. The idea of “destiny,” understood theologically, indicates that we all have a God-given purpose regardless of the present condition of our lives. We can discover a sense of our destiny through meditation on the course our lives have taken. This can be an aid to faith, giving us an appreciation of our rightful place in the world, even if society tends to deny it.
