Abstract

This article examines the interrelationship of blemish and perfection of the body in Priestly biblical literature and in Deuteronomy. In doing so, the discussion briefly addresses how declarations of impurity/uncleanness play a role in the establishment of status as well as touching upon the relationship of gender and impurity. In conclusion, the essay explores some issues of how to interpret biblical texts that construe disability in negative terms.
